Transporting Cranes

Transporting cranes in no easy task. Some smaller cranes are often mounted on vehicles, so moving them about isn't really much trouble at all. However, some of the very large cranes that are used on huge scale construction projects will have to be dissembled before than can be moved. Many of the crane components are so large that they will have to be moved using trucks, or articulated lorries. Most well established crane hire firms will keep their own fleet of vehicles for transporting their cranes.

Maintaining these vehicles can be just as much of an expensive for the firms and maintaining the cranes themselves. As components are worn they will have to be replaced, which is very important as the safety standards on heavy goods vehicles are extremely stringent. These components can be expensive when bought directly from a dealership. However, more firms are turning to salvage yards and the like to acquire cheap Scania parts rather than buy new ones. There are dedicated HGV salvage yards and breakers throughout the country who will have a massive selection of Scania parts available for their customers.

Disassembling cranes and loading them onto trucks can be a tricky and time consuming task. However, crane hire companies will have teams of specially trained engineers and mechanics who will be able to accomplish the task with a minimum of fuss.
